Most sampling points are recorded in the field with Ecobot Collector, but you can also add one in Ecobot Manager: for example, to enter data from a paper form, or a point that was missed. This article shows you how.
Add a point
- Open the survey and check it out. You can only add a point to a survey that's checked out to you. See How syncing works: check-in, checkout, and sync.
- Open the Points tab.
- Select Add point.
The Add sampling point form opens. It's the same form you see when you edit a point, with Site, Summary, Hydrology, Vegetation and Soil along the top.
- On Site, fill in the point's details. Project/Site starts with the survey's site, and Sampling Date with today's date.
- Enter a name in Sampling Point. A red * marks a required field.
- Select Modify coordinates and enter the point's coordinates.
- Select Fetch location data to fill in the county, state, LRR/MLRA, soil map unit name, NWI classification, and section, township and range from those coordinates. Fields highlighted in purple are filled in for you. See Fetch location data.
- Fill in the other sections you need.
- Select Save data at the bottom right. Manager doesn't save automatically, so save before you leave the form. If Manager signs you out while you're away, your changes stay on the page until you sign in again and save. See Can't sign in.
The new point appears in the survey's Points tab, and in Ecobot Collector too. To edit it in Collector, check the survey in from Manager, then check it out in Collector.
Other ways to add points
- Start from a copy: to make a new point that starts with another point's data, select the ⋮ menu on that point in the Points tab, then Clone point. See Clone a point.
- Many points at once: upload them from a spreadsheet. See Upload a CSV.
