Cloning a sampling point copies all its data into a new point, so you don't have to enter similar data again. You can clone a point in Ecobot Collector or Ecobot Manager. This article shows you how.
Clone a point in Collector
The survey has to be checked out to your device.
- Start the clone in either of these ways:
- In the survey's point list, swipe right on the point, then tap Clone.
- Open the point, tap the ⋯ button at the top, then tap Clone Point.
- Tap Yes to confirm.
- Enter a Sampling Point Name for the new point. It's required.
- Tap Add.
The new point gets your current location automatically. Everything else is copied from the original point, so change anything that's different at the new point.
Remove what doesn't apply
- Vegetation: swipe left on a species and tap Clear. The calculations update automatically.
- Soils: tap the x to the right of a soil line.
Tip: set up template points
Before field work, set up a template point for each kind of point you expect, such as one upland and one wetland point. Add what most of them will share: the species you expect to see, a basic soil profile, and the remarks you usually write. In the field, clone the right template at each new point, so you only change what's different instead of editing a lot of cloned data.
Clone a point in Manager
- Open the survey and check it out.
- Go to the Points tab.
- Select the ⋮ menu on the point's row, then Clone point.
A copy of the point opens in the Clone point form, named after the original with "(Clone)" at the end. Everything is copied, including the coordinates and the sampling date.
- Change Sampling Point to the new point's name.
- Change anything that's different at the new point, such as its coordinates and date.
- Select Save data. The copy isn't added to the survey until you save it.
