Fetch Location Data

  • Updated

In both Collector and Manager, use Fetch Location Data to automatically populate top-of-form location information based on the lat/long of your sampling point.

Fetch Location in Collector

Automate location fields on Wetland surveys in Ecobot Collector while working online (cell coverage or wifi). Because data must be fetched from the cloud, Fetch Location is only available while connected.

To use Fetch Location in Ecobot Collector:

  1. In a Wetland survey, navigate to a point.
  2. Access the Sampling Point Information section.
  3. Toward the top, click on the blue icon with two arrows.
  4. Confirm by clicking "Replace" to fetch data.
  5. Six location fields populate based on the point's lat/long coordinates:
    • State
    • City/County
    • Section, Township, Range
    • Subregion
    • NWI classification
    • Soil Map Unit Name

A pop-up window will appear to confirm. Select "Fetch Data."

A loading symbol will briefly appear next to each field, and then the information will populate.

You can also populate each field individually by selecting the arrow icon above each.

Note: Section/Township/Range and NWI classification are not always applicable.

  • Section/Township/Range is determined by the Public Land Survey System. Areas that are not covered in the system will not have a value.
  • NWI classification is only applicable where there is an NWI-identified wetland.

If you have already entered values for these fields, fetching location data will override your entries.

Tip: Auto-populate location data for one sampling point, then use the Bulk Editing tool to quickly standardize multiple forms, and set defaults so that any new points will contain the same top-of-form information.
