Keeping Ecobot Up to Date

Ecobot Manager (web) and Ecobot Collector (mobile) work together behind the scenes. Often, new features in Manager are released alongside updates to Collector. To ensure your account has full functionality, it’s important to keep Collector updated to the latest version.

How to update Ecobot Collector:

  1. On your iOS or Android device, open the App Store or Google Play Store and search for Ecobot.

  2. On Ecobot’s profile, you’ll see a button that says Open or Update.

  3. If Update is available, tap it to install the newest version.

  4. To avoid missing updates, enable automatic updates in your device settings.

Supported Operating Systems

iOS & iPadOS

  • Supported: iOS 16 or higher / iPadOS 13 or higher

  • Hardware: iPhone X or later, iPad 4th generation or later

Android

  • Supported: Android 12.0 or higher (minimum Android 11 as of April 2024)

  • Recommended Hardware:

    • Samsung Galaxy series (S21 or newer)

    • Google Pixel series (Pixel 6 or newer)

Note: Some rugged tablets are sold as “all-in-one” GNSS devices, but Ecobot does not recommend using them. These devices are often locked to the operating system version they shipped with and cannot be updated, which means they may lose compatibility over time as Ecobot and mobile operating systems evolve.

Web Browsers (Ecobot Manager)

Ecobot Manager is browser-based and works on all modern browsers.

  • Recommended: Google Chrome

  • Also supported: Microsoft Edge, Safari, Firefox

IT Considerations for Teams

  • App Management: Enable automatic updates on all team devices so Collector stays current.

  • Connectivity: Ecobot Collector is fully offline-compatible, but syncing and photo uploads require Wi-Fi or cellular service.

  • Battery Life: In areas with spotty service, your device may drain power searching for a signal. To conserve battery, switch to offline mode or carry an external battery pack.

  • Security: Keep OS versions current and enable device-level passcodes to ensure compliance and protect data.

  • Local Saves: As you enter data in Ecobot, each field is saved in real time to a local database on your device. If your device powers off unexpectedly, your data will still be there after restarting and charging.

Switching Devices

Before replacing or wiping a device:

  • Make sure all surveys are checked in.

  • This ensures you can continue editing and reviewing them in Ecobot Manager or on your new device.

If your device is lost, no longer accessible, or has been wiped while surveys were still checked out, please contact support@ecobot.com for assistance retrieving your data.
