The General Field Observation survey lets you record anything in the field that doesn't need a regulatory form, such as wells, debris or power lines, with points, photos and map features. This article shows you how to start one in Ecobot Collector or Ecobot Manager and what each point records.
Start a survey in Collector
- In your survey list, tap Add Survey.
- Under Type, choose Other Field Data.
- Under Survey, choose General Field Observation, then tap Done.
- Tap Continue, and fill in the survey information.
Start a survey in Manager

- Under Other Field Data, choose General Field Observation, then select Start.
- Fill in the survey information, then select Add survey.
Record a point
Each point records the site name, sampling point name, sampling date, investigators, city or county, state, datum and location. To fill in the location details, LRR/MLRA, soil map unit name and NWI classification from the point's coordinates, tap the fetch icon next to Fetch location data from coordinates. See Fetch location data.
Add photos and see them on the map
Take photos as you go and link them to your points. See Photos in Ecobot Collector. Your points and photos also appear on the Collector map.
Back in the office, you can download the survey's files from Manager. See Download survey files and forms.
