You've finished fieldwork for the day. Here's what to do next.
Get on a connection
Collector syncs survey, point, and photo data to the Ecobot cloud automatically whenever your device has Wi-Fi or cellular data, so most of your work is probably already backed up. Anything highlighted in orange in a survey hasn't synced yet. Use Wi-Fi if you took a lot of photos.
Until it syncs, data lives only on your device, so don't delete the app or hand the device off before it's caught up.
Sync, or check the survey in
Open the survey and tap Manage Survey in the top-right corner to open the Sync Survey Data screen.
- Coming back tomorrow? Leave the survey checked out. Turn on Sync Points, Sync Map Features, and Send Photos to Manager, then tap Sync. Your data is in the cloud and the survey stays editable on your device.
- Finished with the survey? Turn on Check In Survey, then tap Sync & Check In Survey. This uploads everything, including photos, and releases the survey so you or a colleague can check it out in Manager.
When the panel says You're all caught up, your device and the cloud match.
Syncing doesn't check a survey in. A survey can be edited in only one place at a time, so the office can't check it out in Manager until you check it in from Collector.
Set the survey status
Optional, but useful on team surveys: set the status to QA so your survey manager knows it's ready for review. You can add a note, and the change is timestamped on the survey's Status Log tab.
QA in Manager
In Ecobot Manager, open the survey and review your data. Points or species that need attention are flagged for review, such as a vegetation, soil or hydrology answer still on Pending. See Review a survey for QA in Ecobot Manager. Then check the survey out to fix anything: fetch location data, bulk edit top-of-form fields and correct what needs it, then download your PDF forms and CSV. Check the survey in when you're done so it isn't locked for anyone else.
