Wetland Region Selection

  • Updated

You can start new surveys in Collector or Manager. When creating a survey in Collector, Ecobot automatically suggests a Region based on your current GPS location. You can manually change the region if needed before you begin.

⚠️ Important: Once a region is selected in the USACE Wetland Form, it cannot be changed. This applies to both geographic regions and strata options (e.g., choosing 4 vs. 5 within the same region).

Because regional forms vary in structure and required fields, surveys cannot be transferred between regional forms. If a survey was started under the wrong region, you’ll need to recreate it using the correct regional form.

How to Recreate a Survey with the Correct Regional Form

Follow the steps below to quickly recreate your survey while preserving your original point locations.

Step 1: Download Data from the Incorrect Survey

  1. Open the existing survey with the incorrect regional form.

  2. Download the PDF of the survey (for reference).

  3. Download the CSV file for the same survey.

  4. Open the CSV file in Excel or Google Sheets.

  5. Copy the data from columns B–D (typically containing point name, latitude, and longitude).

  6. Paste that data into a new sheet.

  7. Save or download the new sheet as a CSV file with only the following columns:

    • sampling_point

    • lat

    • long

Step 2: Create a New Survey with the Correct Regional Form

  1. In Ecobot, create a new survey.

  2. When prompted, select the correct regional form.

  3. Complete the Survey Information fields (e.g., name, ID, and other project details).

  4. In the CSV Upload section, click Browse and select the CSV you created in Step 1.

  5. Click Add Survey to continue.

Step 3: Confirm and Review Point Data

  1. The next page will show a preview of your sampling points and their corresponding latitude/longitude.

  2. Review the points for accuracy.

  3. Click Confirm Points, Create Survey.

  4. Ecobot will create your new survey with all points and location data populated.

Step 4: Re-Enter Survey Data

Use the PDF from your original survey as a reference to repopulate data for each point in the new survey.

Tip: Double-check your selected regional form before beginning any new surveys to avoid needing to recreate them later.
