File Types Available for Export

Ecobot supports multiple export formats so you can deliver regulatory-ready reports, perform advanced spatial analysis, and integrate your data with other tools. This guide explains each file type, when to use it, and how to troubleshoot download issues.

Survey PDF

Generate a clean, standardized PDF of your survey data.

Available formats include:

  • Wetlands – Government-regulated format
  • OHWM (Ordinary High Water Mark) – Government-regulated format
  • Universal Stream Assessment – Generic, non-regulated format

PDF exports are ideal for submissions, client deliverables, and quick review or printing.

PDF bookmarks also available once you download your PDF for easy navigation during QA and we automatically remove the second vegetation page on the 2024 forms if you do not have any extra vegetation.

Survey CSV

A simple, text-based file that organizes project and survey data in a tabular format. CSV files open easily in Google Sheets, Excel, and most data-processing applications.

What you can view in this CSV:

  • Point latitude/longitude
  • All data collected in the survey
  • GNSS metadata and accuracy details

*Tip:CSV is the best format for reviewing GNSS accuracy data for survey points.

Survey Species List (CSV)

This export provides a detailed list of vegetation species recorded in your survey.

Includes:

  • Scientific names
  • Percent coverage
  • Dominance by point
  • Additional vegetation attributes as collected in the field

Use this CSV for QA/QC, ecological reporting, or downstream vegetation analysis.

File Geodatabase

Export an Esri-compatible File Geodatabase (GDB) to preserve your full spatial dataset in a single, organized export.

Why this format is preferred:

Maintains all spatial relationships, domains, and attributes Supports advanced GIS analysis Efficient for managing large or complex datasets Ideal for long-term archiving, environmental review, and engineering workflows

Choose GDB if you plan to use ArcGIS Pro or Enterprise, perform spatial joins, or integrate with enterprise GIS systems.

Shapefile

A widely supported geospatial vector format for storing points, lines, and polygons with attribute tables.

Shapefiles are compatible with nearly all GIS platforms, though they have some size and character limitations. For more robust data management, choose File Geodatabase instead.

GeoJSON

A lightweight, web-friendly geospatial format commonly used in:

  • Web applications
  • Data viewers
  • Cloud-hosted GIS tools

Ideal when you need a portable format for map previews or custom web integrations.
